Angelite is a soft blue to blue-gray mineral variety of anhydrite, a calcium sulfate formed when gypsum undergoes dehydration under pressure over long geological periods. Its name, “Angelite,” was popularized in the late 20th century due to its gentle coloration and strong association with angelic and higher-realm symbolism in metaphysical traditions.

Angelite forms in sedimentary environments where gypsum deposits are subjected to intense pressure, causing the water content to be expelled and transforming the mineral into anhydrite.
